What time does school start and end?

School starts at 8:15 am and ends at 3:15 pm for all students in grades 6-12. On Wednesdays, the end time is 2:15 pm.

How do I drop off my student in the morning and pick them up in the afternoon?

Enter campus from Donnelly St. near the gym on Jackson Ave. and turn left down the middle of campus on McDonald St. Teachers will be in the drop-off line to direct you. Students should not be dropped/picked up at the gym or any other areas on campus.

Here are some things that can help us all in car line:

- - Please drop off and load up quickly at the car pick-up line. If possible, please do not allow your student to get things out of or put things into your trunk. This can be a potential safety issue when students are standing between cars.
  - Pull up as far as you can so that we can fit as many cars as possible in the designated drop off/pick up area. During afternoon pick up, in order to maintain the flow of the line, if you are in the pick-up area and your student is delayed, you may be asked to pull up to the grass parking lot located at the top left side of the pick-up line.
  - Please do not switch drivers in the car line. Have your students practice their driving skills once you have left campus.

To ensure the safety of all, please stay alert at all times and off cell phones and other electronic devices.

Where do students who drive their own vehicle park?

You must park in your designated spot up at the gym. If you have not signed up for a parking pass, park in the grass lot beside the gym and make sure to get a parking pass from the office. In order to get a parking pass, students will need to complete a form found in the secondary office and pay $20 by cash or check. The form and payment can be turned in at the secondary office. A parking station will also be available at the Back to School Bash to purchase a pass.

Where do I go first on Monday, August 11th to start the school day?

Report directly to your first period classroom. If you do not know where your classroom is, or what class you have first period, please stop by the secondary office for help.

Where do I get a copy of my schedule?

Paper schedules will be passed out at the New Family Meet & Greet and the Back to School Bash. You can find a digital copy of your schedule in the FACTS Family Portal. See these instructions to access your schedule.

What is the bell schedule and times for chapel and lunch?

You can find the daily bell schedule here. It is the same as last year.

What if I need to make a schedule change?

Please fill out this form to request a schedule change. Students have until Friday, August 15th to make updates to their schedules.

For 6th Grade Students: All 6th grade students have a set schedule and will receive all 4 "wheel" classes (art, music, tech, theatre) over the course of the school year. 6th grade are unable to make schedule requests.

For 7th & 8th Grade Students: Your elective courses are the only courses you can request a change for. All of your core classes are required.

NOTE: Requests are not guaranteed. There are many factors that go into changing your schedule such as availability during the period you need the class, course capacity, graduation requirements, etc.

What is the NEWS2025 class listed on my schedule?

NEWS2025 is how we roster our 6-12 Bulldog News course in Canvas. This is not an actual course that students get a grade for. This Canvas course houses information for students and parents to access, such as links to the handbook, bell schedule, etc.

How do I access my Canvas account?

For Students: Our Canvas web address is unique to our school and located at mdca.instructure.com. Please do not go to canvas.com, etc. You will log in with your school email address. If you cannot remember your email address or password, please contact Sara.Hill@mdcacademy.org and she can reset it.

For Parents: Please see these instructions for how to create a parent/guardian Canvas account. You can also visit our student/parent Canvas orientation course at mdca.instructure.com/courses/869 (this is a public course open to anyone, even if you don't have a Canvas account yet).

How do I log into my email, Canvas, and Chromebook?

All returning 7th-12th grade students will use the same password as last year. If you forgot your password, please email Sara.Hill@mdcacademy.org and she will help you.

All incoming 6th grade students and all new students will receive a separate email with your password once Chromebook setup is complete. We had to reset email account passwords for all incoming 6th grade students returning to MDCA for Chromebook setup. At the Back to School Bash, Ms. Sara Hill will help students sign into their Chromebooks to make sure everything is working.

When will I get my MDCA Chromebook?

Chromebooks will be distributed at the Back to School Bash. Returning students will receive the same Chromebook they used last year (if they turned theirs in over the summer). If you are unable to pick your Chromebook up on this day, you can get it on the first day of school in the secondary office. If you kept your Chromebook over the summer, please make sure to bring it with you on the first day of school!

Can I bring my own Chromebook or laptop to use at school?

No, all students will be required to use the Chromebook issued by MDCA during the school day. During the year if you have an issue with your device, loaner Chromebooks will be available in the media center for students to check out.

Where is the school supplies list?

If a teacher has specific supplies for you to get, they will email you by Tuesday, August 5th. Otherwise, we recommend having whatever general school supplies will help you be successful (such as pens, pencils, a highlighter, paper, dry erase markers, and binders/folders).

How do students get their textbooks?

MDCA purchases all textbooks for students and this cost is included with your tuition. There is nothing that parents need to do. Teachers will help their students access all digital textbooks during the first week of school and will hand out any physical textbooks.

How do I get a locker?

Lockers are assigned by request. If you would like a locker, you can stop by the secondary office during the Back to School Bash or once school starts.

When will I get my student ID card?

All students will take their ID pictures in the first week of school during their Bible class. We plan to hand out ID cards during the second week of school.

What do I wear for PE, HOPE, or Strength and Athletic Performance class?

PE uniforms will be available for purchase at the Back to School Bash with cash or check. Shirts are $10 and shorts are $15. Don't worry about dressing out on day 1 for PE classes. You can also purchase uniforms throughout the year directly from your PE teacher. Talk to your PE teacher if you have questions.

Middle School: Middle school PE students are required to wear an official MDCA PE uniform.

High School: High school students may either wear the official MDCA PE uniform or other MDCA branded athletic apparel. Athletic pants or shorts should be worn. Shorts must reach to at least the mid-point of the thigh. Tights, yoga pants, or form-fitting pants/shorts are not permitted.

How do I connect to wifi on the first day of school?

You will get your wifi credentials when you receive your Chromebook. Returning students - your wifi credentials did not change from last year. Here are the instructions to log in once you are at school.

How do I report an absence?

Please email attendance@mdcacademy.org when your student misses school. If possible, attach a doctor's note to that email, otherwise you can bring in a printed doctor's note to the secondary office.

What if I am having issues getting my uniform pieces from DG Promotions prior to the first day of school or if I have other uniform questions?

Where can I find the Student & Parent Handbook and other important information?

You can view the handbook at this link. You can always find our handbook and other important information, such as the Course Catalog, bell schedule, etc. on the 6-12 Bulldog News Canvas course.
